Liverpool and Real Madrid are “jostling” to sign £49,000/week star David Alaba says is “one of the greatest”

Liverpool and Real Madrid are “jostling” to sign Jude Bellingham but the Reds may have a major advantage in my opinion.

The reports surrounding young Bellingham’s future have been relentless.

The 18-year-old has been tirelessly linked with Liverpool, Chelsea, the Manchester clubs and, of course, Real Madrid.

The latter are almost always the favourites to sign their targets given their vast wealth and status as the most successful club in Europe.

Bellingham is a very realistic signing for Los Blancos to complete in 2023 and with Casemiro leaving for Manchester United, there is a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Jude Bellingham LiverpoolAccording to the Athletic, Liverpool and Real Madrid are ‘jostling’ to sign Jude Bellingham next summer and it’s going to be a fascinating watch to see how this transfer story plays out.

The midfielder earns £49,000/week but will get a significant pay raise when he leaves Borussia Dortmund but Liverpool will struggle to win the transfer race if it comes down to who can pay more.

Jude Bellingham may prefer Premier League move

That said, I believe Liverpool may have a major advantage that Real Madrid cannot compete with.

Having already played abroad, the England international may desire to return to the Premier League as every English player dreams of and after skipping a step by moving straight to the Bundesliga from Birmingham City, Liverpool could be Bellingham’s preferred destination.

His move to Germany earned him a call-up to the England national team and he even went to EUROs where he shone in midfield for Gareth Southgate’s final-reaching side.

Playing for Jurgen Klopp is undoubtedly an attractive prospect for Bellingham especially given his Dortmund links.

For Liverpool, the 19-year-old is the dream midfield signing and would be the perfect option in midfield alongside Thiago and Fabinho.

His industry is an attractive attribute but his ball retention and efficiency in both boxes is what I’m most excited about potentially seeing at Anfield next year.

Liverpool have sorely missed Georginio Wijnaldum since he left the club to join PSG as his press resistance and ball retention were vital to both the Champions League and Premier League successes.

Klopp has also missed having a midfielder that can join the attack and get into the box and so have had to rely on goals from attack and from set-pieces.

David Alaba says Bellingham is “one of the best midfield talents” in the world

Bellinhgam has received high praise from Real Madrid centre back David Alaba, who has aptly named him one of the most special young midfielders on the planet.

Speaking to German outlet Welt, the former Bundesliga star said: “As for Bellingham as a player, I can say that he is one of the greatest midfield talents in the world.

“And that at a young age! At just 19, he leads the team, doesn’t hide and already decides games with his style of play.”

It’s clear that the Madrid players have already been instructed to proceed with their charm offensive to woo Bellingham into choosing the Santiago Bernabeu over any other destination.

We can only hope he chooses Liverpool but it’s going to have to be a well-fought campaign to beat Madrid behind the scenes.
