Liverpool have reportedly made an opening offer for Darwin Nunez after a claim last week suggested the Reds have agreed personal terms with the forward.
The Benfica star was impressive in his two Champions League appearances against Liverpool this season, scoring twice while he also had a sensational effort denied by Alisson as well as a 95th-minute effort ruled out for offside.
It’s safe to say he made a big impression on Jurgen Klopp.

Nunez and Liverpool agree personal terms
Last week, it was reported that Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement with Nunez.
Personal terms have been agreed on the basis that Liverpool will “double his current wages in a four-year deal”.
Nunez currently earns £31,000 per week with Benfica so it would not be a stretch for Liverpool to pay him £62,000/week or £3.2m per season.
Liverpool make opening offer to sign Nunez
It was reported on Monday that Liverpool have made an opening offer to sign Nunez, who is valued at €78million (£66m).
Uruguayan journalist Brahian Kuchman reports that Liverpool have made an offer to sign the 22-year-old.
Kuchman reports: “Jürgen Klopp has grown tired of praising the Uruguayan to such an extent that he will end up hiring him.”
While speaking at a pre-match press conference, Klopp said: “(He’s an) extremely good-looking boy and a decent player as well!
“Physically strong, quick, was calm around his finish when he finished the goal off.
“Good, really good. Obviously how you say in these situations, if he stays healthy, it’s a big career ahead of him.”
According to Kuchman, Liverpool have made an offer to sign Nunez at the “last moment”.
He added: “There would be a first agreement for Darwin Núñez to be a new English Liverpool player.”

Divock Origi is set to leave the club at the end of the season and will depart as a legend, something Klopp seemed to hint at after the 2-0 win over Everton.
Takumi Minamino might be minded to leave as well as he hasn’t played a minute of football since the 20th of March when Liverpool beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the FA Cup.
Liverpool signing Nunez would be an ambitious move and a sign of intent but it’s not entirely necessary given the depth already available to Jurgen Klopp.
Unless the German wants to ensure his squad has the depth necessary to continue fighting for years to come as Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane aren’t getting younger, it’s difficult to motivate given other weaknesses within the squad.
Signing a new midfielder is the biggest transfer priority by far. While Naby Keita, Thiago and Jordan Henderson are fit now, all have poor injury records and hoping they remain fit for the whole of next season is risky.
