Liverpool suffer a body blow in pursuit of a top star

Florian Wirtz is considered the best number 10 in the world, and some of the biggest clubs in the world are interested in snaring him away from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Liverpool and Manchester City are the Premier League sides who are chasing him, and Real Madrid are also plotting a deal to take him to Spain.
The Reds felt that winning the Premier League would give them considerable clout in the race to sign Wirtz, but according to Fussball Transfers, Bayern Munich have taken a lead in the chase.
The German champions have worked out terms on a contract with Wirtz, who has given his nod to the financial offer made by the Bavarians.
A deal is not done yet, and Bayern Munich will still have to agree on a fee with Leverkusen, who want €150m from his sale this summer.
However, the Bavarians have definitely laid down considerable groundwork for a transfer by thrashing out a contract with Wirtz.
