Liverpool left reeling as Real Madrid hijack £113m superstar deal

Liverpool have been working hard behind the scenes to secure a few deals early, and they are closing in on at least a couple of signings. However, Real Madrid have decided to spoil the Reds’ plans and steal their potential marquee signing this summer.

Sporting director Richard Hughes has been busy as he works towards finalising agreements for a couple of new signings in the coming days as part of the club’s plans.

Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival is a foregone conclusion, but the club are still in advanced talks to sign at least two more players, including Florian Wirtz, the potential marquee signing.

However, Real Madrid, who are set to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool soon, are prepared to break more hearts on Merseyside in the upcoming transfer window.

Real Madrid believe Florian Wirtz’s move to Liverpool is not a done deal yet

Liverpool are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen for the signature of Wirtz, who has made it clear to the German giants that he wants to move to Merseyside

The Reds are aiming to finalise a deal with the German club for a fee of around £113m in the coming days, in time to have the player on Merseyside for a medical and the formalities of the transfer at the weekend.

However, according to AS, Real Madrid are under the impression that it is not a foregone conclusion that the midfielder will join Liverpool this summer.

The Spanish giants are interested in the player, and believe Xabi Alonso can convince Wirtz to snub the Reds in favour of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The midfielder played his best football under Alonso at Leverkusen, and Real Madrid believe the Spaniard can still change the player’s mind at this late stage.

Liverpool would want to avoid any drama and get a deal sorted out as soon as possible to leave Real Madrid with no space to interfere.
