Mohamed Salah Balon d’Or snub continues as the Liverpool star was left feeling stranded at the altar. The Egyptian finishing in 4th place behind eventual winner Ousmane Dembele. Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal and Dembele’s Paris Saint Germain teammate Vintinha rounding off the Top 3.
Salah achieved his highest ever finish in the yearly Balon d’Or pecking order this year. Scoring 34 goals and providing 23 assists, Salah had set the charts on fire last term. His scoring prowess also helped Liverpool to a record tying 20th 1st Division title.
With this latest snub, the Reds fans were surely left wondering what more does the forward needs to do in order to win the illusive award. The club itself though is firmly behind their man.

Liverpool react to Salah Balon d’Or snub

With a simple six word post on social media, Liverpool showcased their firm support for their star player. After initial announcing the results across their platforms, the club issued a heartening message for Salah. The caption read, “A season to savour from Salah”. A heart emoji accompanying the words.
In a carousel of multiple moments from the 2024/25 campaign, Liverpool highlighted the stupendous season the 33 year-old has had. The first image has Salah sitting in front of the Kop at Anfield with the Premier League trophy, Premier League player of the season award, Golden Boot, Playmaker award, and the FWA Footballer of the Year prize kept before him.
The second image showing Salah holding the PFA Player of the Season award which was given out last month. The rest of the photos showed the player celebrating after clinching the Premier League trophy at Anfield, his wins at various awards ceremonies and goal celebrations over the past year.
Dembele won more than Salah
Despite having lesser goal contributions than Salah, the Dembele along with Vitinha helped PSG in securing a treble last season. The Paris based outfit won the French league, the Coupe de France and the Champions League.
Lamine Yamal also won three trophies with Barcelona doing a domestic treble by winning the La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
