Liverpool hero quits in £15m shock as promoted side swoop in

Liverpool have already made a few early moves to bring in players ahead of the summer, but the Reds are also keen to have a clear-out. Several stars are expected to leave, and one such title hero could be on his way to a newly-promoted Premier League side in the coming weeks.

Arne Slot wants major surgery on the squad, and the club are prepared to back his vision in the market as he looks to have his stamp on the team ahead of the new season.

Liverpool are on the cusp of signing a couple of players, including Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, but Richard Hughes is also keen to get a move on player sales.

As many as ten players are expected to leave Liverpool this summer, and one such star has emerged as a top target for a promoted side ahead of the summer.

Leeds United push to land Reds title hero

Kostas Tsimikas started for Liverpool in the 3-2 defeat at Brighton on Monday night, but it was probably one of his last appearances for the club.

With the club pushing to sign Kekrez, the Greek defender will be surplus to requirements, and Liverpool are keen to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

He has emerged as a top target for Leeds United, who are prepared to sign him and Caoimhin Kelleher in a blockbuster double deal from Liverpool.

Mick Brown believes Daniel Farke wants Tsimikas in his squad for the experience he has in the Premier League, which could prove beneficial in the race to survive relegation next season.

“Tsimikas, from Liverpool, is one they’ve been looking at”, Brown told Football Insider.

“He’s done well at Liverpool, and he’s held in very high regard there.

“But if they’re going to sign a new left-back, as it looks like they will, he’s going to be pushed even further down the pecking order.

“Leeds can offer him the chance to play regular football in the Premier League.

“So on that basis, I expect it’s a move he would be interested in making.

“From Leeds’ point of view, he’s a player with plenty of Premier League and winning experience.

“Bringing in players like that never hurts when you’re coming up from the Championship.

“It seems that’s what the manager wants to do, flesh out his squad a bit with experienced players who can help some of the younger ones they’ve got.”

Liverpool want around £15m from Tsimikas’ departure this summer.
