Liverpool are on the verge of winning the Premier League title this season. However, Arne Slot is not ready to rest on his laurels and is pushing for a massive shake-up of the squad in the summer, which could see several incoming and outgoings at Anfield.
Slot has been pushing for a complete reconfiguration of the attack in the next window, which could see the likes of Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz in the coming months.
However, the Liverpool manager is also keen to bring in defensive reinforcements as the Reds want long-term replacements for Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson in the summer.
A centre-back is a priority, and the Merseyside giants have gained a key advantage in the race to sign a defender who has been on their radar for months.

The Reds are to push for a centre-back signing soon

Dean Huijsen has been Liverpool’s top target this summer, and the club are plotting a double deal to sign him and his teammate Milos Kerkez for Bournemouth.
However, the Spaniard has also been on the radar of Real Madrid this summer. However, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Spanish giants are still undecided on whether to sign a centre-back.
This is an advantage for Liverpool, who could move early for Huijsen and get a deal done to take him to Anfield in the upcoming summer transfer window.
“I’m hearing that internally at Real Madrid, they have still not decided whether they want to sign a centre-back or not in the summer, how much they want to spend. They have Raul Asencio at the club who is doing very well. So that’s why Real Madrid are not so convinced, not about Huijsen, but about signing a new centre-back in the summer”, Romano said on GiveMeSport’s Market Madness podcast.
“And this is why the timing is helping the English clubs. So Liverpool will be there, Arsenal will be there, and Chelsea will be there. The release clause is £50m, so the negotiation is on the player’s side, basically.
“And I’m sure that all these three clubs will push and push again in the next days, weeks, to try reach an agreement with Dean Huijsen and his camp.”
Liverpool will look to get a deal done soon to ensure no other club get a chance to sign Huijsen this summer.
