Liverpool fans have excitedly reacted to reliable news that talks with Jeremy Doku and his agent have taken place.
On Wednesday evening, Twitter erupted as the news broke from a reliable journalist, Sacha Tavolieri, that Liverpool are interested in signing Jeremy Doku this summer.
He’s trustworthy for news on Belgian football and was the first to break the story that Chelsea were talking to Romelu Lukaku.
He has now told the Anfield Talk that a bid is yet to be made but once Liverpool clear deadwood, they plan on signing Doku this summer.

Now, LFC Transfer Room have spoken to him and Tavolieri “can confirm Liverpool are targeting Doku and that if everything goes well, they will go further with Rennes.”
He goes on to say that the Reds are in talks with the player’s “sports agency regarding him but they need to make space (by selling players) before making an offer.”
It will apparently cost as much as €50million to sign the Belgian forward but it seems difficult to imagine Rennes rejecting that kind of money for a 19-year-old.

As you can imagine, Liverpool fans are excited and it’s easy to understand why.
Doku is lightning quick, one of the best dribblers in the world despite his age and has been compared to Sadio Mane due to his stature and ability to fly past players.
Similarly, Mane wasn’t an elite level finisher before he joined Liverpool or before he was managed by both Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders.

It’s scary to imagine what Doku could evolve into if he gets a move to Liverpool as soon as this month as it would give him access to elite level coaching that he might not get at Rennes.
Now that seems harsh as I know nothing about them and they’re clearly doing a good job to produce the likes of Eduardo Camavinga but Klopp has shown by coaching Robert Lewandowski, Marco Reus and Mo Salah that he can work wonders with young stars.
While he’s likely to leave before Harvey Elliott and Jeremy Doku reach their prime years, if Klopp can help them learn the ropes during their formative senior years, it could make the world of difference.

Sadio Mané's biggest flaw when he joined Liverpool was his finishing.
Jeremy Doku, the player Klopp labeled as the future Mané replacement, has the same issue.

LFC flew Doku and his family over and Klopp told him he can be the next Mane couple of years ago. He’s still 19 and has frightening potential but you know , hot takes and twitter 🤷🏽♂️ #LFC

No but for real, imagine Doku and Elliott in 5 years as our wingers.
All after learning from Mané and Salah, as well as playing under Klopp.
Would be mental.
