Florian Neuhaus has his heart set on a move, according to Chrisitan Falk, and these Liverpool fans are thrilled about the prospect of a €40m move for the German midfielder.
He confirmed both Liverpool’s interest in Neuhaus and the player’s wish to join the Reds.
Crucially, Falk also stated in February that Neuhaus has a release clause of €40m. This makes him a much more attractive option to a team that does not have unlimited funds to spend.
Liverpool are set to release Georginio Wijnaldum this summer as a free agent, with his contract set to expire on the 30th of June. This opens the door for a move for a midfielder like Neuhaus.

The way he creates spaces for himself and team mates is really a delight to watch. Hope he won't be another Keita upon arrival though

What does Anfield Central think?
For me, it all depends on the system that Liverpool play and what role Thiago Alcantara is given next season.
Fabinho is the club’s undisputed best no.6 and so long as he doesn’t need to cover at right-back and centre-back, he should always start at the base of Liverpool’s midfield. His top drawer display against Barcelona in 2019 is proof of this.
Jordan Henderson is expected to return to full fitness over the summer and so will return to the no.8 role on the right-hand side of Liverpool’s midfield where he won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year for the 2019/20 season.
His leadership, industry and passing helped the club to its first-ever Premier League title and its first league title in 30 years.
Fabinho and Henderson are non-negotiable starters which means that before any signings are made (and considering Wijnaldum leaves the club), Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are already competing for one midfield spot.
The two guaranteed starters are both defensive-minded players with passive roles in the side due to Liverpool’s attack-minded fullbacks.
This means that Neuhaus, who is a deep-lying playmaker, would either need to change his style of play or would be cover for one of Henderson or Fabinho.
Wijnaldum’s no.8 role is an interesting one because it involves him favouring ball retention over-penetration but he’s also tasked with joining the front three when a counter-press is triggered.
Wijnaldum started the season superbly and was one of the top performers under Klopp but the injury crisis that the club has suffered means that he has had to play way more than he would usually.
In all competitions, the Dutchman has played 46 games, accumulating 3587 minutes. In a role like Wijnaldum’s where energy and industry is essentially a pre-requisite, it’s no surprise that he’s been showing signs of fatigue.
You do also wonder if his mind is elsewhere. The thought of moving to a new country/club and the prospect of representing your country at a major international tournament is enough to distract any player.
