Liverpool are interested in bringing in a new number 9 this summer as part of Arne Slot’s plans to shake up the title-winning squad. The Reds boss has given up on the hope of Darwin Nunez ever becoming the prolific striker that the club envisaged when they signed him in 2022.
Nunez was seen wildly celebrating winning the Premier League title at Anfield on Sunday, but the brutal reality is that he has not started a significant league game since March.
The Liverpool manager wants a new number 9 to lead the line next season, and Nunez’s representatives have been told to find a new club in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool are looking at some obvious names ahead of the summer, but are also alive to the possibility of recruiting a top striker on a free transfer this summer.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
A three-man shortlist has been drawn up at Anfield

It is widely known who Liverpool want to sign as their new number 9, but his name is not the only striker the club are considering at this stage of the season.
According to Spanish sports daily AS, the Premier League champions-elect are working from a three-man shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.
Alexander Isak is the priority name on the list, and while Liverpool are prepared to table a big bid for him, they are unlikely to offer crazy sums, which Newcastle want, before agreeing to sell him.
RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is the second name on Liverpool’s shortlist, and he is expected to be on the move this summer, amidst interest from Arsenal.
Brighton’s Joao Pedro is the third name on the list, and he would be the left-field choice if the Reds are to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.
It remains to be seen who the Reds settle on as they seek to sign a new leading striker for the team in the summer.
