Liverpool could use agent relationship to sign £54m midfielder as they close in on Konate

Liverpool could leverage their relationship with Ibrahima Konate and ICM Stellar Sports, his representatives, to sign Ligue 1 talent Eduardo Camavinga this summer.

The Reds are set to unveil the French centre-back as a Liverpool player in the summer after reaching an agreement with RB Leipzig. They’ve been chasing his signature for a few months now and are close to sealing the deal.

Through negotiations with Leipzig and his agent, Liverpool have developed a relationship with ICM Stellar Sports and while Anfield Central has no information on Eddy Camavinga’s intentions, we think the Reds should put that rapport to further good use.

According to The Athletic, the 18-year old is set to reject a new deal at the Roazhon Park with his current contract set to expire in 2022, giving Rennes no option but to sell.

Georginio Wijnaldum is close to a summer exit with Barcelona the favourites to sign him despite interest from Bayern Munich.

As we reported, Julian Nagelsmann is a fan of the Dutchman but it may be too little too late.

With the former Newcastle United star set to leave the club, Jurgen Klopp is searching for a replacement and although Yves Bissouma is a player that’s high on the list of players that sporting director Michael Edwards is assessing, Camavinga is the dream option.

The midfielder doesn’t turn 19 until November and yet has been capped three times and is already a goalscorer at international level.

Camavinga has started 26 Ligue 1 games this season while making seven appearances from the bench for a Rennes side that has become well known for producing some of France’s best players.

Nicolas Pepe’s move to Arsenal may not have gone to plan but there is no denying that his breakout season in Ligue 1 was fantastic. He scored 23 goals and assisted a further 12 and now Camavinga is following in his footsteps.

The young midfielder is not a high-flying winger but his footwork, trickery on the ball and ability to drive through the middle of the pitch are exactly the kind of traits Liverpool want to replace this summer following Wijnaldum’s expected exit.
