Liverpool could agree up to three transfers in the next two weeks – not including ‘expected’ £8m agreement for Carvalho

Liverpool could agree up to three transfers in the next two weeks, not including the much “expected” £8m pre-contract agreement for Fabio Carvalho.

This is Anfield reports that “there is still a chance at least one more Liverpool player moves this month” despite the close of most transfer windows around Europe and in England, with a few players set to play very little football due to the size of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Luis Diaz joined the club from Porto to bolster the attacking ranks but it means that Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino will struggle to get game time even more than they did before with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane set to return from AFCON soon as well.

Loris Karius is one player that is certain to not get any game time at all and James Pearce has already confirmed he will leave the club in the summer upon the expiry of his contract which sums up his torrid time at Anfield.

According to TIA, “In total, 11 nations within the European Leagues association will see their transfer window close later in February, with another five open until dates in March, two in April and one in May.

“Most notable among those this month are Turkey (Feb 8), Switzerland (Feb 15) and Austria (Feb 7), which could open up possibilities for any of Karius, Minamino and Origi.”

Karius is available for free as Liverpool recognise that it’s in the best interest for all parties for him to leave as soon as possible and if he can find a club willing to take him on board, he can pack his bags.

It’s sad to think how things could have been different had the 2018 Champions League final gone differently but then again, that would mean we wouldn’t have Alisson Becker and the Brazilian is largely responsible for our recent success.

Basel have reportedly expressed their interest in Karius and so his Liverpool nightmare could soon come to an end as he may well link up with Liam Millar in Switzerland while Divock Origi has been tenuously linked with Turkish clubs every transfer window since Liverpool won the Champions League.

Compared to Karius, his chances of leaving the club at this stage are much lower and the same can be said for Takumi Minamino but nothing can be ruled out even if it’s difficult to calculate how many minutes they will get over the next six months.

Takumi Minamino

There will be chances for them but they will be few and far between but they would have been briefed on their squad role during the January transfer window. TIA mentions that a return to RB Salzburg would present Minamino “with the game time he requires at 27” but would he downgrade now? I can’t imagine so.

Melissa Reddy reports that Liverpool are “expected” to reach a pre-contract agreement for Fulham teenager Fabio Carvalho to join Liverpool in the summer as both parties look to avoid the need for a tribunal to set a fee for his development costs.

Before the 11pm deadline sounded the gong on their talks, Liverpool and Fulham agreed on an £8m fee for Carvalho although that fee will likely be lower now that he is into the final six months of his contract at Craven Cottage.
