A €50million bid would see Liverpool beat Man Utd to perfect Thiago partner

MADRID, SPAIN - DECEMBER 14: Saul Niguez of Atletico Madrid celebrates scoring his sides second goal during the Liga match between Club Atletico de Madrid and CA Osasuna at Wanda Metropolitano on December 14, 2019 in Madrid, Spain.

Empire of the Kop, reporting exclusively, claim that Liverpool are considering Saul Niguez this summer and he’d be the perfect partner for Thiago Alcantara.

Writing for EOTK, Jordan Chamberlain says: “In midfield, Yves Bissouma is a genuine target, too – and there is even a possibility Liverpool will get involved in the Saul Niguez chase.

“The Atletico man has a year left on his deal and is available for £40m this summer.”

Anfield Central exclusively reported on the 28th of May that Yves Bissouma is a player of interest but that a £50million price tag is a cause for pause for Liverpool and Michael Edwards.

I have no idea how Klopp would juggle Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Saul but I’m all for the German having those kinds of options after a season in which we saw our defence capitulate due to three serious injuries.

This season alone, we saw Henderson and Thiago miss 152 games combined through inury and so signing another top class midfielder is very important.

As far as Thiago is concerned, signing Saul Niguez would be the best thing for our Spaniard maestro since Fabinho was returned to the no.6 role.

It enabled him to push further forward where is counter-pressing and snappy passing were more effective and having another aggressive tackler and accurate passer would only further enhance his reputation at Anfield.

A midfield of Fabinho/Henderson, Thiago and Saul would be dominant and utterly relentless which is exactly what Liverpool need as they aim to bounce back from a disappointing season in the Premier League.

A finish in the top three is incredible given where they were a month ago but after winning the Premier League, it’s not good enough and Jurgen Klopp will be getting ready to fill his players’ bellies with fire ahead of the 2021/22 season.
