Liverpool could sign Jeremy Doku and Aurelien Tchouaméni as both are exempt from Premier League regulations on non-homegrown talent.
According to Sky Sports, the rules apply to players over the age of 21 and so Rennes’ Doku (19) and AS Monaco’s Tchouaméni (21) could be signed soon if reports are to be believed.
Recently, Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, while discussing Juventus’ interest in Tchouaméni, named Liverpool as a club “considering whether to invest” in the France U21.
They reported that Monaco will demand €30million from anyone who wants to sign him and should Liverpool sign him, he could provide depth for Fabinho as well as another option in the no.8 role.
Last season showed that whenever Jurgen Klopp is no longer able to call on his Brazilian enforcer, Liverpool’s pressing, ability to defend a high line and overall ball-winning numbers suffer tremendously.
Signing someone to rotate him with could help ensure he avoids overuse injuries that are sure to accumulate should he be forced to play 50-60 games.
As Anfield Central covered already, Liverpool want to sign Jeremy Doku, according to Sacha Tavolieri, who says signing the Belgian would cost €50million and is a move the Reds want this summer.
Apparently, Liverpool are in talks with his agents over a move to Anfield and if they signed him and Tchouaméni, not only would it add a lot of quality to the squad, it would further future-proof the club.
It wouldn’t be cheap as combining their reported fees would require FSG to sanction a large summer outlay of €80million (£68.1m).
Sadio Mané's biggest flaw when he joined Liverpool was his finishing.
Jeremy Doku, the player Klopp labeled as the future Mané replacement, has the same issue.

Anfield Central learned on Friday that the word from inside the club is that Michael Edwards is working on signing players for Jurgen Klopp and that’s part of why Xherdan Shaqiri is being sold for so little.
It’s unclear who Liverpool want to bring in but if they can secure a double swoop for Doku and Tchouaméni it would (mostly) align with FSG’s transfer model.
The costs involved would be the only issue I can see arising but other than that the players are both very young, have massive potential and are ready to come in and make an impact for the Reds.
