Liverpool have passed up on many deals over the past few months.
Multiple clubs have brought in offers for the club’s players over the past two transfer windows. Real Madrid tried to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a cheap deal at the start of January. The reds rejected the deal. Saudi Pro League clubs were very active in the winter transfer window as they targeted Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez.
Liverpool managed to keep all their players at a crucial part of the season. The club sits top of the Premier League with six points and a game in hand. The Reds are also through to the knockout round of the Champions League. As it stands, Liverpool could win a quadruple at the end of the season.
However, they will need to beat Spurs in the second leg of the league cup to reach the final.

Liverpool lose out on huge fee due to Arsenal target

This summer, the reds were in the market for a midfielder. Based on last season’s results, the team identified a need for a midfielder who can anchor the midfield. Liverpool dipped into the transfer market to sign Wataru Endo. The veteran played his part when called upon, but by the end of the season Liverpool still needed a defensive midfielder.
After an impressive performance at EURO 2024, the reds lined up a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. Liverpool and Arsenal pursued the Spaniard all summer, before he eventually opted to stay in Spain. The reds began the season with Ryan Gravenberch playing as the defensive midfielder. This turned out to be a genius move as the Dutch international has become one of the best in England. A lot of credit goes to Arne Slot, whose playing style has brought the best out of Gravenberch.
The emergence of the 22-year old ended the pursuit of Zubimendi for the foreseeable future. However, this indirectly cost Liverpool. As the initial plan was to sign Zubimendi and sell Tyler Morton. According to Florian Plettenburg, Bayer Leverkusen offered a loan deal with option to buy for a reported €25 million. Talks ended, and Morton has remained at Anfield. The club also rejected a deadline day offer from Middlesbrough for the 22-year old.

Reds missed perfect opportunity to sell
Missing two opportunities to sell Tyler Morton is a bad move from Liverpool. There are currently no plans for him in the first team, and he will remain with the team till the end of the season. The reds could have made €25 million on the midfielder a year ago, and could end up selling him for much less in the future.
