Jurgen Klopp will regret allowing Man City to sign £120,000/week forward unchallenged

MIDDLESBROUGH, ENGLAND - JUNE 03: Jack Grealish of England looks on during a interview on June 03, 2021 in Middlesbrough, England.

Manchester City are infamous for stacking several world-class attacking players in their side and with Jack Grealish linked with a move to the Etihad, Liverpool cannot sit idly by.

In my opinion, the Aston Villa man is England’s best player. Harry Kane is terrific and his 23 goals and 14 assists in the Premier League this season is outstanding but if you put someone like Grealish in Manchester City, it’s game over.

I like to stay pretty optimistic and I try to ignore Pep Guardiola’s privileged position which lets him sign pretty much whoever he wants but if reports about him wanting Grealish are true then Liverpool are in major trouble.

The Sky Blues won the Premier League and the League Cup this season if Guardiola hadn’t overthought his tactics, he would have won the Champions League as well and so to think about what they’d be like with Grealish is a scary thought.

The Aston Villa skipper scored 6 goals and assisted 12 for Villa this season despite being injured for 12 Premier League games.

The Daily Mail reported at the end of May that Manchester City want to make Grealish the first £100million English player and Liverpool need to do something to make sure that their rivals don’t sign a forward that would make them the undisputed best team in the league.

The forward reportedly earns £120,000/week with Villa but would be in for a pay bump if he moved to City.

I cannot imagine Liverpool spending that much on the 25-year-old when Jadon Sancho is available for £90million this summer even if they had the funds and were made to choose between the two.

Grealish would be an absolute menace at Liverpool but his style of play is perfect for Man City and following a poor season from Raheem Sterling and with Aguero’s departure, I can fully imagine that Pep would like to reinforce his attack.

With Aston Villa reportedly agreeing a club-record deal worth an initial £33m for Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia, he could be viewed as a replacement for Grealish should he leave this summer.

The 2021/22 Premier League season is set to be fiercely contested between Liverpool, the Manchester clubs and Chelsea so buying smart this summer will be crucial in determining who walks away with the crown.

Liverpool aren’t likely to buy big although sources close to Anfield Central suggest that any claims that the Reds are broke are wide of the mark and simply a ploy to negotiate more favourable financial packages with clubs this summer.
