Klopp can kill two birds with one stone by raiding Chelsea in £63m double swoop

PORTO, PORTUGAL - MAY 29: Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham of Chelsea hold their winners medals following their side's victory in the UEFA Champions League Final between Manchester City and Chelsea FC at Estadio do Dragao on May 29, 2021 in Porto, Portugal.

Liverpool arguably need two new forwards this summer with Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi both set to leave the club and Jurgen Klopp should consider raiding Chelsea.

Two forwards that are out of favour at Stamford Bridge are Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson Odoi, with their combined value in the region of £63m, according to Transfermarkt.

Liverpool need a new striker and a versatile winger that can play on both flanks to compete with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah after the Reds’ attacking standards dipped this season.

Jurgen Klopp has spoken glowingly of Abraham before and with Salah shining thanks to his guidance, the German could hand two more Chelsea forwards career lifelines by bringing them to Anfield.

As I’ve said before Abraham offers a more traditional route to goal, with the 1.9m striker a proper no.9 but as he showed when he scored 18 goals and assisted 6 under Frank Lampard, he is a clinical forward.

I can only imagine what he could do with service from Trent Alexander Arnold and Andrew Robertson, with the Liverpool fullbacks crying out for a target in the box given Firmino’s poor finishing this season.

Hudson Odoi offers something Liverpool don’t much too much of as well. Mane is the only player in the side that can consistently beat his man which makes the Reds a little bit too predictable at times.

Signing the two Chelsea forwards, who happen to be very good friends, would give Klopp the option to choose from Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Hudson Odoi, Salah and Abraham.

With AFCON possessing the potential to wreck Liverpool’s season, having several options is vital to success next season.

Manchester City’s greatest strength in recent years has been their wealth of talent in most positions and signing two of England’s most exciting talents would help the Reds match them even if one or two of the front three got injured.

As we saw this season, injuries can have a devastating impact on Liverpool’s plans and it can be avoided if Klopp takes the necessary precautions.
