With Arne Slot set to deliver the Premier League title in his first season, the Liverpool board will be under pressure to deliver in the summer. It appears the Merseyside giants are set to get a clear run at one of their priority targets for the next window.
Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is under pressure to deliver the signings Slot wants in the summer after the manager’s stupendous first season on Merseyside.
The Reds boss is pushing for a major revamp of the squad, and the club are looking to strengthen all areas of their squad ahead of the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
Liverpool have identified some priority targets ahead of the summer, and it seems the competition is clearing up for the Reds to sign one of them.

Premier League rivals dropping out of the race for top star

Milos Kerkez has been the top target for Liverpool, who are looking to bring in a new left-back as the long-term replacement for Andy Robertson.
It emerged recently that Manchester City are also interested in signing the Hungarian, and Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have also been keen to sign him.
However, according to GiveMeSport, Liverpool appears to be leading the race to sign him and are the only serious contender for his signature.
Apart from the Merseyside giants, none of the four Premier League clubs have entered into any serious talks with Kerkez’s representatives ahead of the summer.
That could still change in the coming weeks, but for now, Liverpool appear to have a clear run at signing the left-back in the next transfer window.
Bournemouth are prepared to sell him and are likely to accept offers in the region of £40m for the defender in the summer.
