Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has promised that the club is looking to make new signings ahead of the Premier League season.
The Reds have had a promising pre season under Arne Slot, going unbeaten and winning against Manchester United and Arsenal. The fans have been impressed with the new style of play which has seen 10 goals scored in 5 games so far.
Reds youngster Fabio Carvalho shone in the preseason games, scoring in the games against Arsenal and Manchester United but the midfielder could be on his way out of the club.
Arne Slot assesses Liverpool pre season
The Dutch coach says he was quite happy with the performances and results during pre season. Slot hinted that the club will enter the market in the coming weeks.
“As a club like we are, we are always looking if we can strengthen the squad but it is not so easy to strengthen the squad, if you saw both games today.
“I said many times before I inherited a real strong team and if we can and if we think it is possible we will strengthen the squad but only if we can and only if we think it is possible.”
Reds’ deal for Spain midfielder ongoing
Liverpool have been linked with EURO 2024 winner Martin Zubimendi. The Real Sociedad player starred during the tournament and caught the eyes of a lot of clubs.
When asked about the potential deal for Zubimendi, Arne Slot had this to say:
“From what has been told to me there is an agreement in place but I haven’t spoken with the club, I was fully focused today on these games,” said Slot. “I don’t exactly know what the status with him is but that was the reason why he wasn’t selected today.”
Later during the press conference, Arne Slot described his perfect defensive midfielder. A position that Zubimendi could fill if the transfer materializes.
“I think we’ve seen mostly Wata Endo there or Ryan [Gravenberch]. And in a previous game even Dominik [Szoboszlai] was a bit lower. But I have quite a good idea which player suits there, at this moment in my opinion, best. But like I said, we are only one week working together with some players. So, sometimes you feel, ‘Oh, this is the best No.6’ but then the combination with the other two might maybe not work out that well.”
Liverpool have been linked with the Spanish midfielder who reportedly has a £52million release clause in his current deal at Real Sociedad.
