Liverpool are reportedly ready to finally sign Fiorentina’s hitman Dusan Vlahovic but will face competition from Spurs, Manchester City and others for his signature.
Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola’s sides locked horns on Sunday and either side might have won the game comfortable with a top-class centre-forward on the pitch.
Liverpool are particularly lucky City did not have a clinical striker as they were prolific with the chances they were creating in the first half but a masterclass from Mohamed Salah after the interval brought the Reds back into the game.
Vlahovic is an interesting option for Liverpool to sign and after they tried to sign him in the summer with little success, it seems they’re back on the hunt.
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Liverpool are on the move to finally sign Vlahovic but AC Milan, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are all interested as well.
A report from Corriere dello Sport, cited by Paisley Gates, is informed that Manchester City and Spurs are interested and they say that even Liverpool and Manchester United could enter the race to sign the Serbian.
Apparently, an offer of at least €75million euros (£63.7million) is required but the good news is that Fiorentina have knocked 25% off his asking price.
Vlahovic scored 21 league goals last season which is fantastic but it’s certainly not worth Liverpool or their rivals spending £100m but he has scored 6 goals in 8 games this term so if he continues his top form it surely won’t be too long before he gets a move to a big club.
While I’ve been advocating for Liverpool to sign a natural centre-forward with an eye for goal for a while now, I’m still not certain that Vlahovic suits the Reds’ style of play even if he is clearly a very clinical forward.
The Anfield outfit thrives on fluid movement and winning the ball high up the pitch and while Vlahovic’s strength would make him a nuisance in ground duels, he doesn’t have the mobility, agility and pace required to constantly press high up the pitch.
