Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry this summer as his contract is due to expire in 2023 just like Mohamed Salah.
According to Goal, the winger is considering leaving the Allianz Arena in the summer as he seeks a new challenge and Liverpool could offer him one just as they did with Thiago Alcantara.
The Spanish midfielder has struggled with injuries at Anfield but he is one of the best in the world when fit and I have no doubt that he would be decisive in convincing 26-year-old Gnabry to move to Liverpool.
The Reds have a lot of pull these days with Jurgen Klopp at the helm and with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, Fabinho etc. starring every week in front of a packed Anfield crowd.
In his time with Bayern Munich, Gnabry has won 10 trophies but with just one full year remaining on his contract in the Bundesliga, speculation is ramping up over his next move.
Signing a new deal would be the easy move but he has ambitious options with Goal reporting that Real Madrid, Juventus and Liverpool are all interested in the former Arsenal star.
This season, he has scored 14 goals and assisted 10 for teammates which just highlights his attacking threat.
He’s valued at £63m which would be a significant outlay for someone that would have just a year left on his contract and so I’m sure Bayern’s actual asking price would be lower.
Goal suggests that Gnabry has been identified as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah should the Egyptian leave the club as his contract talks remain deadlocked.
Salah is “linked with a transfer amid similar struggles to negotiate a new contract at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp thought to be a keen admirer of the Bayern attacker.”
