The 21-year-old Dutchman, who remains on the books at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), is spending this season on loan with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, where he has continued to impress with his dynamic attacking play.

Recently, Bild journalist Yvonne Gabriel reported that Liverpool are keen on signing the £67.4 million-rated midfielder, though Simons has expressed his desire to stay in Germany for now.

Bundesliga expert Christian Falk has also chimed in, labelling Simons a “jewel” and noting that the Premier League, rather than PSG, could be his next destination.

Falk remarked, “He’s more likely to go to the Premier League than Wirtz. Along with Musiala, there could very well be three transfer jewels on the market next year.”

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Simons is expected to leave PSG in the summer of 2025.

However, he emphasised that no agreement has been reached yet with Liverpool or any other club. With all the top clubs keeping an eye on the Dutch international, Liverpool will need to act swiftly if they want to secure his signature.

Why Xavi Simons is an exciting target

Xavi Simons’ rise has been nothing short of remarkable. Bursting onto the senior scene with PSV Eindhoven, where he scored 19 league goals, Simons quickly made his mark as one of Europe’s finest young attackers.

His move to RB Leipzig further established him as a versatile playmaker capable of playing both centrally and in wide attacking roles. In the 2023/24 Bundesliga season, Simons provided 11 assists and scored eight goals, demonstrating his ability to influence games from multiple areas on the pitch.

Simons’ versatility is one of his greatest strengths. While primarily an attacking midfielder, he is equally effective on either flank, offering a dynamic threat in various positions.

This flexibility makes him an attractive option for Liverpool, who are always looking to add creative, multi-dimensional players to their squad. His ability to deliver goals and assists in crucial moments, combined with his technical prowess, makes him a standout prospect for the future.

Like his counterpart Florian Wirtz, Simons has also been pivotal in European competitions, contributing to RB Leipzig’s success on the continental stage.

His experience playing at the highest levels in both domestic and European football has prepared him for the step up to a top Premier League club, where his skills could shine even brighter.

At 21, Simons is already proving he can be a consistent performer at the highest level, and his incredible vision, ball control, and ability to unlock defences make him one of the most exciting young talents in Europe. With Liverpool looking to bolster their midfield and attacking options, Simons could be the ideal signing to help them challenge for titles domestically and in Europe for years to come.
