Liverpool and Tottenham eye Antoine Semenyo as release clause rumours heat up

Antoine Semenyo

Liverpool seemingly haven’t filled their appetite despite the summer show. Arne Slot is eyeing Antoine Semenyo as Tottenham Hotspur also stay in the chase.

The Reds splashed a lot of cash in the summer as they spent £300m+ of their £440m+ total spending on attacking players. Some big names include Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.

All three signings broke multiple records as the Merseysiders managed to break the British record twice in just one summer. Both Isak and Wirtz were £100m+ signings.

Ekitike, on the other hand, became the most expensive French striker in history, making a move for £69m from Eintracht Frankfurt. The No.9 also received limelight as former Europa League opponent Ousmane Diao talked about his wish to play alongside him in a recent interview.

Despite all the attacking buzz, Slot isn’t backing down on available options for the upcoming windows. The Reds seem keenly interested in Semenyo as latest reports reveal a possible release clause in the forward’s contract.

Flashscore transfer insider Dean Jones recently reported that Semenyo’s contract might have a release clause despite popular denial.

“Cherries sources have tried to keep a lid on further speculation around a future exit – previously hinting that no release clause was included.”

“However, there has been a sense of scepticism around that stance in football circles – and rival recruitment departments are trying to uncover the full reality of his agreement!” – Jones via Flashscore.

The journalist claims that multiple Bournemouth sources have been denying any release clause in the attacker’s contract. However, insider sources have confirmed the opposite.

While writing for the media outlet, Jones confirmed that there might be a release clause worth £60-70 million in the Ghanaian international’s contract.

It will be challenging for the Cherries to hold onto their winger if such a clause did exist, and it won’t be hard for the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to get their hands on the winger.
