Leeds United trigger stunning £40m exit of Liverpool title hero

Liverpool are expected to carry out major surgery on the squad in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Reds have won the Premier League, but the club are expecting a serious exodus of players, given Arne Slot’s needs for several new signings.

Slot has consolidated his power at Anfield by delivering the Premier League title in his first season, and Liverpool are prepared to back his vision in the next window.

Liverpool have a big budget for several new arrivals, but the club are also looking to shift several players, with as many as ten stars expected to leave Anfield this summer.

One such star is attracting interest from a few clubs, ahead of the summer, and Leeds United have made a serious play to take him to Elland Road in the upcoming transfer window.

Leeds contact Liverpool to secure deal for title hero

Leeds have earned promotion to the Premier League by winning the Championship, and have gone to work to overhaul their squad ahead of the summer.

Daniel Farke wants new players for several areas of the squad, but one of the priorities is to sign a top goalkeeper ahead of their return to the top flight.

Caoimhin Kelleher has been on Leeds’ radar for months, and according to transfer journalist Graeme Bailey, they have now approached Liverpool to discuss a deal to take the Irishman to Elland Road.

“Kelleher is moving this summer. He wanted to go last summer, but Liverpool decided against letting him go. Giorgi Mamardashvili is coming in now, so Kelleher is on his way, and the interest is high”, Bailey told LeedsUnited.News.

“Newcastle, Bournemouth, West Ham and Nottingham Forest are just some of the teams who have been linked. Leeds are in this market for a goalkeeper and I am told they have made enquiries about his situation.”

The goalkeeper will leave Liverpool this summer, but the Reds are looking for as much as £40m before sanctioning his exit from Anfield.
