Liverpool fans will be delighted after Jurgen Klopp provided an encouraging injury update after Norwich City were dispatched 2-1 in the FA Cup.

The Englishman was in fine form during his first-half display for the Reds but was unlucky to be withdrawn with an injury although Jurgen Klopp has allayed fears over the nature of the issue he picked up.

According to the German, who was speaking after the match, the knock that the 21-year-old picked up is not a “real injury”, with the medical staff withdrawing him as a precaution.

“Curtis played a really good first half. We had to take him off because he felt his thigh slightly,” Klopp said.

“I don’t think it’s a real injury, but there was no need to take a risk. That’s why we brought Harvey on, who was good.”

He wasn’t on the pitch long enough to earn a rating but he did complete 36 passes in his 45 minutes on the field and also shaved the crossbar with a deliciously curling effort.

It was reminiscent of the one that elevated his name on the Anfield scene when he downed Everton in the FA Cup in front of a packed home crowd to tumultuous applause.

Curtis Jones

Jones, who reportedly earns £197,000/month, also had a 92% pass accuracy and created one key chance so it was a real pity to see him leave the field even with a minor issue and hopefully, it won’t keep him on the sidelines for too long.

He was so involved in the early stages that Lee Dixon joked that the players must have had an unwritten rule to pass to the Scouser.

“They must have an unwritten rule that every two or three passes, they’ve got to pass to Jones,” he said on ITV, via Rousing the Kop. “He’s had the ball left, right, centrally, short, deep. Must have had 300 passes already.”

With Thiago on the sidelines for a couple of weeks, Jones might be a miss so Klopp will be hoping to have the young midfielder back as soon as possible but we will have to wait to learn the full extent of his injury.

Thiago Alcantara.

Liverpool are through to the next round of the FA Cup after dispatching the Canaries and are due to face West Ham United in the Premier League next in what will be a stern test of their title credentials.

The Hammers have already beaten them once this season while also docking points from the likes of Chelsea while they lost 2-1 to Manchester City at the Eithad.

If Liverpool can navigate what is a tricky fixture and beat David Moyes’ side, the title race will truly be back on.
