‘Player Klopp admires hugely’: Reds in talks with £90m superstar as summer rebuild on with Diaz secured & Carvalho next

Jude Bellingham

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp reportedly admire Jude Bellingham amid several reports that the Reds are interested in the midfielder.

From a week ago when Reds fans were merely grateful to have made it through January without any defeats and were looking forward to having a fully fit squad in February to welcoming a marquee signing to the club in Luis Diaz to now being disappointed that Fulham dragged their feet and therefore prevented the signing of Fabio Carvalho.

The Fulham star is likely to still join the Reds and a summer recycle is on the cards if he does sign for the Merseysiders. Add Bellingham to the mix and it’s a full-on rebuild with the potential to set the club up for the next decade.

It’s been a whirlwind week for fans and now, Ian Doyle writes for the Liverpool Echo that Jude Bellingham is a player that Jurgen Klopp admires amid reports that the Reds are interested.

At the start of December, the Mirror reported that Liverpool were leading the race to sign the BVB star and that Jurgen Klopp and the Reds are not put off by the £90million asking price that Dortmund have slapped on their teenager’s head.

Football Insider then reported talks have already begun between Liverpool and Dortmund over a deal to take Bellingham to Anfield.

England’s two biggest clubs have both made the teenage ace a priority for the summer and Caught Offside reported that Liverpool are aiming for an ‘ambitious’ swoop for the Borussia Dortmund star.

The Liverpool Echo reported on the 30th of January that the Reds, despite recent transfer trends, would be able to afford a deal to sign Bellingham even if the fee did reach £90m as the amortisation would make it just £18m per season.

Now, Ian Doyle has reported that “the Reds could be compelled to bolster their midfield options with a significant arrival.” He namedropped Bellingham, writing: “a player Liverpool and Klopp admire hugely.”

Ultimately, it does seem as though it will come down to whether or not FSG are willing to spend what it will take to sign the 18-year-old.
