Liverpool have done a good job in the transfer market over the last few seasons.
The club was slowly able to do a small rebuild of the first team squad in Jurgen Klopp’s latter years. Liverpool moved on from Saido Mane, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino in the space of 2-3 years. Since then the club has recruited a handful of decent replacements. Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have all arrived over the last two seasons.
At first it looked like the transfers were flops as they initially struggled to adapt. But since Arne Slot took charge, all these players have looked very different. This summer will be a crucial step in Liverpool’s squad building. The reds could lose Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk – the current spine of the team.

Jose Mourinho sets sights on Liverpool star

As much as the recruitment team have done their best to continue to improve the team, some transfers are still yet to work out. Konstantinos Tsimikas was signed to be the long-term replacement for Andrew Robertson, but has yet to nail down a starting role. The club also spent a lot of money to recruit Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguayan arrived with a lot of hype after his exploits in Portugal. He joined the club the same summer as Erling Haaland joined Manchester City, with both strikers tipped to be the best signings of that season. However, the results could not have been much different. Nunez is in his third season with the club and is yet to justify his price tag. Arne Slot has moved the 25-year old to the bench since he took charge, preferring to use Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota up top.
The €85million signing is set to be handed a lifeline this summer. According to turkish outlet Aksan, Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Darwin Nunez to Fenerbahce. The Portuguese boss has instructed the club to ‘push all the conditions for this transfer in the summer months’. Mourinho wants to replace Edin Dzeko, who is 39 years old, with a much younger option upfront. Liverpool have already made it clear to interested clubs that they would need to pay enough to recoup the initial transfer fee for the Uruguayan striker. Atletico Madrid have also registered their interest in the Liverpool striker.
