Jamie Carragher makes a brutally honest assessment of this Liverpool star.
Arne Slot has had to make full use of the current Liverpool squad this season. His only signing last summer was Federico Chiesa who joined from Juventus. The forward was out for an extended period with injury and fitness issues, recently returning to action in December.
Slot has managed to bring the best out of some players who have been out of favour since last year. Ryan Gravenberch has found his feet in England after initially struggling last season. The Dutchman is one of the best midfielders in the league this year.
Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have also become more consistent performers this campaign. Arne Slot has even found a way to improve Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has had a remarkably better year than he did last season.

Jamie Carragher speaks on Liverpool star

One player Slot has not gotten the best out of yet is striker Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan has so far failed to justify his huge price tag since joining from Benfica. Slot has chosen to use Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota in central roles in attack ahead of Nunez.
But the striker has seemingly changed his fortunes in recent days; coming off the bench to secure a win against Brentford. After a couple of games where Liverpool struggled to score goals from players outside Mohamed Salah, it was a positive to see Darwin Nunez have such an impact over the weekend.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has now called out the 25-year old for his season so far. The pundit told Sky Sports that he does not believe Nunez will be at the club next season:
“No. Not really, maybe right now. But I wouldn’t imagine he will be at the club next season,”
“I don’t know, I’m not privy to those conversations.”
Carragher however added that striker, who is reportedly on €165,000 a week, is a useful option to have off the bench as Liverpool go deeper into the season.
“But he has got a brilliant record coming from the bench,” Carragher added. “I think since he joined the club, he has got more goals and assists than anyone in the Premier League from the bench, so maybe that is his role from now until the end of the season – which can help Liverpool get over the line.”
