“Can’t think of anyone”: Jack Wilshere believes £100m West Ham star is better than Liverpool fan favourite

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has outrageously suggested that Declan Rice is better than Fabinho.

West Ham boss David Moyes fuelled the conversation surrounding the Englishman’s future by suggesting he is worth more than £100m.

Asked whether Rice is worth more than £100m, Moyes, after a long pause, replied: “Yeah.”

In my (admittedly biased) view, that must mean Fabinho is worth more than £100m as well because he’s certainly a better midfielder than Declan Rice.

Fabinho

I’ve seen nothing to suggest that the 23-year-old is better than the Reds destroyer even if he is a very talented player and capable of growing into one of the best in the world.

The Hammers star is overrated by the English media and as Jack Wilshere has showcased with a tweet, it’s reached staggering levels as the former England international has suggested Rice is better than Fabinho.

Taking to Twitter, Cole asked his following: “Tell me a better DMF than Declan Rice right now? Can’t think of anyone can do what Dec can.”

Naturally, the replies were filled with outraged fans. The West Ham star has been fantastic this season for West Ham and played a key role as they drew 1-1 with Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday.

But Cole’s replies were insistent that despite Rice’s form this season, he’s still not on the level of Casemiro, Fabinho, Rodri. Even Sergio Busquets, who is resurging under Xavi, got an honourable mention.

When replying to a fan that insinuated Wilshere hasn’t been watching Fabinho the last couple of years, he said: “Doesn’t have the presence Dec has.

“Dec can do everything he can and more.”

This season, Fabinho has been a vital cog in the Liverpool machine and without him, I shudder to think about what would happen to the Reds’ system.

His ability to predict play and break up passing moves before they develop is an incredible skill and one that not many players have.

Klopp relies on the former Castilla graduate to protect his back four in a way that nobody else at the club is able to.

Against Manchester City, Fabinho’s presence in the middle of the park will be key and after confirmation that he did not suffer a concussion against Benfica, Klopp can rest easy knowing the 28-year-old is fit to face the league leaders.
