After three years at Ibrox, goalkeeper Jack Butland has officially confirmed he is leaving Rangers to pursue a new chapter in his career.
The 33-year-old announced his departure via an emotional Instagram post directed at the club’s passionate fanbase, leaving little doubt about his affection for the Light Blues.
Butland joined Rangers on a free transfer from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2023, quickly establishing himself as a key figure between the posts.
Over three seasons, the England international racked up 155 appearances in all competitions, cementing his place as one of the club’s most reliable performers.
His only winner’s medal at Ibrox came in December 2023, when Rangers edged out Aberdeen 1-0 in the Premier Sports Cup final.
Butland is now poised to complete a £3 million switch to English Premier League new boys, with Derek McInnes’ side having secured a £6 million deal for Hull City shot-stopper Ivor Pandur as his replacement.
In his farewell message, Butland wrote: “Three years ago I made a decision to join this great football club, with no hesitation and I’m so glad that I did.”
He continued: “While it’s been a rollercoaster, I’ve always tried to represent the club in the best way I can, both on and off the pitch and I leave with great pride knowing that I truly gave the fans, the club and my teammates my all.”
The goalkeeper paid special tribute to the supporters who followed the team across Europe, writing: “To the fans that followed us everywhere, you are what makes this club so great.”
Butland closed his message on a personal and lasting note, saying: “This is only goodbye for now. You’ve created a family of lifelong Rangers fans, once a Ranger, always a Ranger, me and my family will always be that. Thank you.”
