Injury salt on Brentford wound for Liverpool

Liverpool have another injury concern to deal with as Brentford loss wound gets deeper. The defending champions suffered their fourth league loss in a row.

The Red’s woes continue as last night’s loss sees them drop out of the Top 4 to sixth place. Depending on Sunday’s results, the team may further slide down the table.

Amid such circumstances Slot needs some stability. But an injury to a vital midfielder has the potential to completely derail the season.

Injury adds to Liverpool woes

Curtis Jones was forced off with an injury during last night’s fixture. With 20 minutes to go Rio Ngumoha came on for Jones.

Jones was one of the bright spots in an otherwise subpar performance from the Reds. However he sat down on the pitch before walking off himself.

“Curtis, we have to wait and see. He asked to be taken off but he walked off instead of needing treatment”, explained Slot. ”

“It’s a lot of games and there’s another one in four days”, trying to shed some light on a possible timeline for return.

Midfield injured list keeps growing

The Reds were already without the services of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister in the starting XI. The latter though made the bench, coming on for Conor Bradley later on.

Gravenberch has an ankle injury and is still a doubt for the Carabao Cup fixture against Crystal Palace. Jones too will be on the same boat as pivotal games comes in thick and fast. With other midfield options woefully short on form, the exclusion of both will make things even more difficult for Liverpool.

Salvaging the season will be of primary concern but another grey area will be there failure to beat Crystal Palace this term. Liverpool began their season with a loss to the Eagles in the Community Shield. While their current torrid run too began with a trip against the same team.
