£15million Jack Grealish clause is fictional – Aston Villa v Man City not a matter of match-fixing

Jack Grealish

Despite false claims online, Anfield Central has learned that Micah Richards has not claimed that Jack Grealish has a £15million clause in his contract.

After Liverpool beat Southampton 2-1 on Tuesday evening, the spotlight is firmly on the final day of the Premier League season.

Manchester City lead the way and hold their fate firmly in their own hands with 90 points to Liverpool’s 89 but Pep Guardiola’s side faces a tricky test against Aston Villa.

Pep Guardiola

Villa would normally not be given much hope of beating the Blues but with Steven Gerrard their manager, they will have unique motivation to beat City.

Over the course of the next five days, you will also read a lot about how Philippe Coutinho and Danny Ings can become Liverpool legends by scoring against City to help the Reds win the league.

Coutinho left the club unceremoniously in 2018 to fulfil his childhood dream of playing for Barcelona while Ings moved to Southampton in search of regular game time in 2019.

Now both have the chance to do their former side a massive favour but despite a false claim about Micah Richards, Aston Villa will not care if Liverpool win the league or not.

The Englishman moved to the Etihad last summer for a record-setting £100million fee after City triggered his release clause but he hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire since joining the champions.

He has just 6 goals and 4 assists this season while Takumi Minamino has arguably outshone him with 10 goals and 1 assist despite playing 1722 minutes fewer than the City winger.

The Japanese forward’s goals have directly contributed to winning the League Cup and FA Cup while his goal against Southampton on Tuesday kept Liverpool’s title hopes alive going into the final game of the Premier League season.

A false claim suggested Grealish may have the last laugh if Villa’s financial desires are put ahead of their desire to be part of one of the greatest Premier League title wins.

Micah Richards was alleged as claiming that if Manchester City win the 2022 Premier League title race, Aston Villa will receive £15million as a bonus due to a clause in Jack Grealish’s contract.

However, that is not true. The quotes were fabricated and misreported far and wide but as his agency has informed us, there is no truth to the claims.

We apologize for the mixup and will strive to do more to fact check these types of stories.

Jack Grealish

The former City defender did not insinuate that Villa will want to throw the game in order to allow City to win the league so they can cash in on the £15m Grealish clause.

It would constitute match-fixing and the consequences would cost Villa a lot more than £15m.

Also, it stands to reason that with Steven Gerrard at the helm, Villa would struggle to get the Liverpudlian to do anything other than his absolute best to hand his boyhood club a Premier League title in any way he can but.
