Liverpool’s star summer signing, Darwin Nunez, has claimed that the Liverpool fans gave him goosebumps during his debut last weekend.
The Reds stormed to a 3-1 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield as Nunez got off to a scoring start on his debut.
Having featured in three pre-season games abroad, last weekend was the Uruguayan’s first taste of a full English crowd and it’s safe to say he enjoyed the experience.
Liverpool travel to Fulham in their first game but face Crystal Palace at home in the second game of the season which will surely be an incredible experience with the fans for Nunez.

Fans gave me ‘goosebumps’
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Nunez revealed all from his early life at Liverpool and how he’s settled into life on Merseyside.
He was particularly complimentary of the fans’ support, as it helped to calm him down despite his emotional celebration.
Nunez said: “I wanted to thank the Liverpool fans because when I went out to start my warm-up, they were chanting my name, โNunez, Nunezโ and it gave me goosebumps.
“They were also singing my name during the game itself, and thatโs really important for a player as it calms you down and gives you a boost in confidence out on the pitch too.”

His comments on playing against City illustrate his humble attitude, given Nunez has had to work his way up from the smallest of teams in Uruguay to become the star he is now.
“I was saying to myself, โHow good is this, playing against City and scoring your first goal in a final?โ Lots of thoughts come into your head at a moment like that. First goal, against a top side, in a big game, I just didnโt know how to celebrate it!” Nunez revealed passionately.
“So I just thought, pull my shirt off and just go for it and celebrate to the maximum, because it was a key goal in an important game for my career and Iโm sure itโs one Iโll remember for the rest of my life.”
A grounded attitude and a extreme work-rate and determination will put him in good stead for the rest of his Liverpool career.
