4-3-3-: How Liverpool could lineup if they signed €50m attacker that could bench Sadio Mane

Arnaut Danjuma

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Arnaut Danjuma and after being linked with the Dutchman before he signed with Villarreal, he seems like a player the Reds rate quite highly.

In August, the Reds were ‘in the clear’ to sign Danjuma ahead of Villarreal as the La Liga side was supposedly refusing to increase their €15m (£12.5m) offer before they wound up signing him for €25.4m (£21.3m).

Have Liverpool been linked with Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma?

It’s a signing that Liverpool should have made in the summer and while we often praise the likes of Michael Edwards for his brilliance in the transfer market, who do we point the finger at for the lack of action in recent transfer windows?

Sadio Mane desperately needs some competition and cover. He’s forced to start in every game that has the slightest importance and it’s clearly having a negative impact on his form and at 29, it’s clear he can’t play like this forever.

Liverpool have reportedly readied a bid worth €45m for Danjuma but must increase it to €50m to land the 24-year-old and if they do, he will give Jurgen Klopp the edge they need this season to win silverware.

How would the winger fit in at Anfield?

To be honest, not much would change.

Jurgen Klopp isn’t the type of manager to sign new players and cater to their needs.

Instead, he and his team of analysts and stats gurus search for players that will work well in his system.

This way, there are few teething issues when they move to the club.

For Danjuma, he’d be able to give Klopp the option of swapping him out for Mane as and when he feels the need.

I’m confident this would have a positive impact on Mane even if the former Southampton star wants to start every game.

He needs to be able to rest and the extra competition would also drive him to perform at even greater heights.

Sadio Mane.

Danjuma is more direct than Mane with his dribbling.

While the Liverpool star likes to stand defenders up and once they’re stationary, he uses his explosive pace to burst past them but it can be quite predictable and requires a lot more energy than the way Danjuma beats his man.

The Villarreal star likes to receive the ball in the left channel with his right shoulder to the fullback where he often flicks the ball inside, past the fullback, and bursts past the defender to create space for himself.

His goalscoring has been really impressive as he has scored a wide variety of goals for the Yellow Submarine and if he joined Liverpool he could make a major impact for the Reds in their 4-3-3 although recently it’s looked more like a 4-2-4 in possession.
