Harvey Elliot urges Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty to join Liverpool after AXA trial

Harvey Elliott replied to Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty on Instagram and it should have Liverpool fans interested even if the 17-year-old won’t help the Reds dethrone Manchester City this season.

The Premier League is hotting up and the Citizens are threatening to run away with the title if there are any more slip-ups from Liverpool and Chelsea and with both sides battling with COVID-19 cases and injury, it’s unlikely either side is set to go on extended winning runs.

Who is Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty and why should Liverpool fans be excited?

He’s a 17-year-old attacker that plays for Toronto FC and has been in England training with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Marshall-Rutty is set to take the next step in his career and has been described as a ‘huge talent’ by MLS expert Tom Bogert and after training with the Gunners, he has been training at the AXA Training Centre.

He doesn’t have a European passport so will only be able to move when he’s 18 on a pre-agreed move but it appears as though there may be an offer on the table from Liverpool and Harvey Elliott has seemingly urged him to accept it, replying to him on Instagram by saying: ‘Sign the ting g’.

Obviously, comments and replies on Instagram from players hardly confirm news like this but it’s interesting to note and if clips of Marshall-Rutty on YouTube are anything to go by along with Tom Bogert hailing him, it looks like Liverpool could sign an exciting player.

Liverpool’s approach to young talent under Jurgen Klopp is amazing to see

Jurgen Klopp has always been a manager who has made very good use of the young talent available around him. He thrilled Europe when he took a plucky Borussia Dortmund side to the Champions League final, won the Bundesliga and the DFP Pokal.

All while getting the best out of young players like Robert Lewandowski, Marco Reus and Mario Gotze.

At Liverpool, we’ve seen him transform our very own Trent Alexander-Arnold from a clearly talented player into a world-class operator.

Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty would be making a smart decision choosing Liverpool as his next club if he wants the right appreciation for his young career.

Harvey Elliott will return to action soon as his rehabilitation ramps up

The 18-year-old suffered a horrific injury against Leeds United at the start of the season and while that was a major setback, the good news was that it wasn’t as serious as it initially looked.

It seemed at first as though he had broken his leg but he will be back in action soon as he has been training outside at Kirkby and once he is cleared to return to team training, the medical staff and Klopp can begin thinking about introducing him back into action.

Elliott is a player rates very highly and is one of his favourites, I would say, as evidenced by him starting over Naby Keita at the start of the season even against Chelsea in the return fixture at Anfield.

After the final pre-season game in the summer, a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao, Klopp said: “He can play (centre-mid) . He can play up front, the right wing

“He smashed the bar. He is different, he can play a few positions, no doubt about it.

“We wanted to try him in midfield in pre-season to get him more involved. He made big steps.”
