Gary Neville labels Liverpool player as ‘unbelievable’ after Crystal Palace draw – Liverpool fans love him

Liverpool midfield vs Real Madrid

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace in the Premier League last night and Gary Neville was quick to praise a certain Liverpool player by calling him ‘unbelievable’ in his post-match analysis.

The Reds were frustrated by Patrick Viera’s team who were an organised set-up and posed a real threat on the counter-attack with Wilfried Zaha getting the opening goal.

Liverpool hit back with an amazing equaliser by Luis Diaz – this was after Jurgen Klopp saw his star signing Darwin Nunez sent off for violent conduct.

One player stood out perhaps more than others for Liverpool and Gary Neville was quick to praise one of Klopp’s men.

Gary Neville’s comments

The former Manchester United captain has been a big advocate for what Liverpool have done in recent seasons, even if he hates seeing them be successful.

Post-match he discussed which player stood out for him on the night and that player was Diaz; of course, his goal was special, but he praised the other side of the Columbian’s game.

Speaking on Monday Night Football for Sky Sports: “His tracking back, his pressing. His energy in the game, his dispossessing of the opposition team is absolutely unbelievable.”

Neville was right to praise Diaz’s off-the-ball work, given it’s one of the traits which saw the winger as desirable for Klopp and Pep Lijnders.

Before joining Liverpool his stats showed that he had 7.47 ball recoveries per 90 minutes – a key stat for Klopp given he needs his attackers to contribute defensively.

He can be considered a positive for the team at the current time, given the injuries and suspensions that the side currently have.
