A former Premier League managerial legend once described Liverpool’s £81M rated star as a ‘complete player’ in an interview from 2019.
It was none other than the former Arsenal manager and football legend Arsene Wenger who was speaking about Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian has been Jurgen Klopp’s talisman since he joined in 2017 and he was rewarded for his efforts over the years with a record-breaking contract until 2025.
Being described as a complete player, even after only two seasons at the club was high praise and he’s gone from strength to strength since.

Wenger on Mohamed Salah
The video resurfaced on social media recently with the retired Wenger waxing lyrical over Salah.
“I like the way of his evolution,” Wenger said speaking to Metro back in 2019.
“Because he had touches last night [against Monterrey] of a playmaker. He created chances around the box that are exceptional, there were things of Lionel Messi in him last night and I like that a guy who can score so many goals also becomes the guy who gives assists.
“That is a complete player. That’s what we all admire and what we want from our players.”

Salah hasn’t begun the season in vintage form, but before the international break, he ended his mini-drought with the opening goal against Ajax, as Liverpool went on to triumph 2-1.
Since January his form has tailed off, but he still managed to share the Golden Boot with Son Heung-Min and take home the playmaker award last season. So far it’s four goals and three assists in all competitions – that includes a goal and assist in the Community Shield win over Manchester City.
There were some who even thought that Salah had ‘cashed out’ with his reported £400k-a-week earnings – particularly Graeme Souness on TalkSport. We then disproved that theory after seeing the winger sprint back 90 yards to help defend a counterattack.
After five years at the club, Salah is a victim of his own success but it’s likely he will go on to have another great season, especially considering he isn’t going to the World Cup which means his winter break will see him come back fully fit and raring to go.
