The members of the Liverpool squad that ended the club’s 30-year wait for a Premier League title in the 2019/20 season will forever remain immortalised at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp moved on from Liverpool at the end of the season but stalwarts from that team such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson are still on Merseyside.
Jordan Henderson was the captain of that squad and became the first Reds skipper in 30 years to lift the English top-flight title.
The veteran midfielder joined Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia last year for massive wages but moved on from there a few months later to join Ajax in January this year.
He is currently the Ajax captain but has been heavily linked with a return to England in the winter transfer window where Sunderland are said to be interested in him.
The Black Cats are top of the Championship and want to bring back their former midfielder to add some experience to their squad as they push to get promoted back to the Premier League.
A return to England in January would cost the former Liverpool captain
Henderson is believed to be considering a return to England and an offer from Sunderland in January could tilt the scales.
His wife and three kids still live in England and the former Red has a personal reason to return to his homeland.
However, a return to England in January would be more costly to the player than if he waits until the summer.
According to Het Parool, Henderson would have to pay a 45 percent tax on the money he earned in Saudi Arabia to the British government.
The tax liability would be zero if he waited until the summer. He would be able to return to England after April without having to pay any tax on the money he earned in Saudi Arabia.
It remains to be seen what Henderson will do if Sunderland indeed make an offer for him in the January transfer window.
The Reds next take on Arsenal and in a boost for Arne Slot’s reds, former Arsenal man and childhood Liverpool fan Theo Walcott has claimed Calafiori will struggle against Mo Salah, which bodes well with the Reds looking to open up a seven point gap on Arsenal.
