‘Fnancial problems’ could force club to accept offer less than the release clause of 24-year-old Liverpool target

This is Anfield

Merseyside giants Liverpool are expected to invest in centre-backs next summer regardless of the contract situation of Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk is in the final year of his contract and there is still no agreement between the two camps over a new deal at this stage of the season.

Liverpool are in talks with his representatives and are keen to see him sign a new deal but the club have started work behind the scenes to bring in a younger centre-back.

Even if he signs a new deal, Liverpool are aware that Van Dijk will need replacing sooner or later and are keen to look at younger profiles available in the market.

They have been linked with an interest in Jonathan Tah who could be available on a free transfer next summer but he is not a priority target for the club.

Sevilla’s Loic Bade has been identified as one of the priority targets by Liverpool and Seville are also expected to sell him next summer.

The Liverpool target has a release clause but……

Sevilla are almost certain to sell the Frenchman next summer as he is seen as one of the players who could bring in a big fee for their coffers.

He has a €60m release clause in his contract and Liverpool have the financial muscle to meet that figure and sign him without needing any negotiations with Sevilla.

That would be the ideal scenario for Sevilla but the Spanish club have several financial issues and are not in a place to reject a big offer.

According to El Mira, Sevilla could be forced to sell the defender for a figure less than his release clause if a big enough bid lands on their table.

Liverpool are likely to try and find a way to convince Sevilla to accept an offer less than the €60m figure and their financial issues are expected to give them such an opening.

Bade would be keen on the move as he believes he would be ready to join a big club next summer.
