Bild reports that if Liverpool make an ‘immoral offer’ for midfielder Florian Neuhaus, they can sign the German this summer.
With Georginio Wijnaldum set to leave the club this summer, Liverpool will be in the market for a new central midfielder and there is a host of names linked with the Reds, with Yves Bissouma one of the players high on their list of potential arrivals.
The Brighton and Hove Albion star is, in my view, the best-suited player linked with fulfilling the role that Gini occupies in the Liverpool starting XI but Neuhaus is also an attractive option even if he plays an entirely different role.
The German 24-year-old is a deep-lying playmaker and so isn’t exactly the same as the box to box midfielders that Jurgen Klopp has recently deployed ahead of Fabinho in the middle of the park.
According to a report published by Bild, Liverpool can sign Neuhaus this summer if they submit an ‘immoral offer’ to trigger his reported €40million release clause. Bundesliga expert Christian Falk claims that he has his heart set on a move to Anfield.
The report from Bild does contradict Falk by saying that the Borussia Monchengladbach star “sees his future in Gladbach at least until 2022.”
They quote the midfielder as saying recently: “Borussia is a club where I was able to develop excellently and where I can find everything. I know what I have in Gladbach. Of course, I also read that there is a lot of speculation. But I don’t see my future as openly as many others. ”
We’re more inclined to believe Falk but it’s worth noting that there are mixed reports emerging regarding Neuhaus’ future.
If a deal for Neuhaus doesn’t happen or isn’t on the cards, this would be fine by me as I see Yves Bissouma as the best option for Liverpool in the current market. The Mali midfielder has all the tools to succeed in the Reds’ engine room.
Liverpool have made enquiries to people that know Bissouma as they vet the midfielder’s personality and character – something the Reds do before solidifying their interest in a player.
His strength on the ball, dribbling and adventurous style of play are things that Liverpool find most attractive and would make him the ideal Wijnaldum replacement as the Dutchman is expected to leave this summer.
Barcelona are set to sign him as Ronald Koeman has pushed hard to take him to Camp Nou.
