Fabrizio Romano replied to Aurelien Tchouameni on Twitter after the Frenchman reacted to the classic Champions League encounter between Manchester City and Real Madrid.
According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool have opened talks with the midfielder’s agents over a potential move to Anfield.
The French outlet claims that the Reds are set to battle Real Madrid for Tchouameni’s signature and the Daily Mail’s Dominic King has corroborated the story.
Lots of stuff around about Liverpool and Aurelien Tchouameni. No question he is a player they are looking at but other clubs in frame, too, most notably Real Madrid, who are favourites. Liverpool, however, most definitely looking for a midfielder with his qualities.

Liverpool don’t have any depth for Fabinho while both Thiago and Jordan Henderson are ageing and injury-prone so it would be wise for the Reds to put plans in motion to sign a midfielder that could succeed one of them in the engine room.
Tchouameni is just 22 and has the entirety of his career ahead of him which makes signing him an ideal move from FSG.
The Frenchman has made it pretty clear that he wants to play in the Champions League with his latest tweet.
Reacting to the 4-3 classic at the Etihad on Tuesday, Tchouameni tweeted: “Frankly what a pleasure to watch a match of this level.”
Franchement quel plaisir de regarder un match de ce niveau là 👀🥰#UCL

Fabrizio Romano then replied to the midfielder, saying: “And soon you’ll be there!”
Whether or not the Italian journalist was referring to playing in the Champions League or for Real Madrid is unclear but Liverpool fans will want to follow the AS Monaco star’s next steps closely with the transfer window not far away now.
Both Foot Mercato and Dom King make it clear that while Liverpool are interested and while talks have been held with the player’s agents, Real Madrid remain the favourites.
However, with Kylian Mbappe expected to join the La Liga outfit, it’s unclear if they will be able to afford his huge personal financial demands as well as a marquee signing like Tchouameni.
That’s why the report from Foot Mercato states: “Real Madrid would have a hard time convincing both AS Monaco and the player financially speaking.”
Liverpool signing Tchouameni would help boost their squad depth even more ahead of the 2022/23 season.
