Fabrizio Romano discusses Liverpool outgoings and Nat Phillips to West Ham

Jurgen Klopp

Fabrizio Romano says that any outgoing movement in the January transfer window should not be expected until the end of the month and a deal for Nathaniel Phillips to move to West Ham would therefore likely not happen for a few weeks.

Liverpool aren’t likely to make any new signings even though Georginio Wijnaldum wasn’t replaced in the summer and COVID-19 and injury has left Jurgen Klopp with a depleted squad.

The centre-back, fondly referred to by fans as the ‘Bolton Baresi’, would be the biggest beneficiary of a move to the London Stadium but it’s a deal that would benefit all parties involved.

For Phillips, it would mean getting regular minutes in the Premier League for a very good team.

For West Ham, it would mean solving a defensive injury crisis that could derail their season.

For Liverpool, it would mean recouping a decent sum for a player that is well-liked but is realistically never going to play in the starting XI unless lightning strikes twice and Jurgen Klopp is left with no other options at centre-back.
