Liverpool are on a mission to tie down their key players as the Reds start the campaign with talks about Ryan Gravenberch.
The Dutchman has been an important part of the club’s Premier League win last season, with another unbelievable start to the latest campaign.
He has already scored two goals and assisted once in four appearances for the Merseyside outfit. With his role getting more and more important with the passing days, it isn’t surprising that Arne Slot is keen on extending a new contract to the Dutchman.
Gravenberch hasn’t only received praise from the fans, but club and international teammate Virgil van Dijk has claimed that the Dutchman is “in the form of his life”.
Despite Real Madrid’s interest, the midfielder focuses on his career at Anfield. Unfortunately, though, another Liverpool player doesn’t hold the same attitude as he plans on following in the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In his Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano revealed that, following multiple attempts, an extension is unlikely for Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konaté.
The Frenchman already had his eyes on Real Madrid, so the news isn’t as shocking compared to reports claiming Marc Guehi’s changed preferences.
The France international’s contract expires at the end of this season. Hence, he will be allowed to sign pre-contracts with overseas clubs from January.
Konaté’s agent had previously tried settling talks of an extension, but even an eight-figure salary wasn’t enough to convince the defender.
Liverpool went from £70,000 to £185,000-a-week, but the Frenchman’s eyes seem set on the Santiago Bernabéu.

What this means for Liverpool?
The Reds are already in trouble following Giovanni Leoni’s recent injury. The Italian centre-back suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury against Southampton.
Liverpool were facing the Saints in a Carabao Cup clash that ended 2-1, thanks to Hugo Ektike, who was sent off due to a celebration.
Milos Kerkez replaced Leoni in the 81st minute following an uncomfortable display from the Italian. Slot’s worst nightmares came true as having started the season with only four centre-backs has already backfired.
The failure to sign Marc Guehi has been one of the Dutchman’s biggest regrets, as now he plans to go in for the Englishman in January.
Fortunately, despite recent speculation, Guehi’s eyes remain on a move to Liverpool as the English defender will be looking to make his big move to Anfield.
