Liverpool have made enquiries over Emiliano Buuendia’s availability this summer after the Argentinian helped Norwich City to the top of the Championship table.
The Canaries are top of the table on 84 points, with a game in hand on Watford and below the Hornets is Brentford on 69 points. Daniel Farke’s side is certain to return to the Premier League next season and Buendia has been crucial.
His 23 goal contributions this season have been vital, with Liverpool’s midfield pretty low in terms of creativity from central midfield. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Trent Robertson are most responsible for the creation in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Manchester United ready to make second approach for reported €105m Liverpool target
With their levels dipping a bit this season it would be wise for Klopp to add creativity to other positions to ensure they don’t become over-reliant on the fullbacks to find the best route to goal.
None of Liverpool’s midfielders could be described as clinical which means that Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota are the only players likely to score. In Buendia, the Reds’ would have a player that can be a goal threat or the one probing sides set up in a low block.
Norwich will likely want to hold onto Buendia to ensure they remain in the Premier League but money talks and they could be convinced to sell their star player and reinforce their squad in a more general way.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool will be able to find a deal to sign Buendia but it’s certain that he’s of interest to the reigning Premier League champions.
