European giants ask agent to keep them informed about Liverpool star’s contract talks

Arne Slot will have to play a new backup for Mohamed Salah

Liverpool are battling headlines about the future of several of their top stars while being at the top of the Premier League table at this stage of the season.

On the pitch, Liverpool are doing well and Arne Slot has made a major impact since taking charge of the team from Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.

After seven games, the Reds lead the Premier League table and have emerged as a contender to win the league alongside Manchester City and Arsenal.

However, the headlines around the club are about the future of several of their top stars who are out of contract at the end of the season.

There is a real concern around the fact that Liverpool could lose a local boy in Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer next summer.

Liverpool have been confident of convincing him to sign a new contract before Christmas but it emerged recently that the club are aware that he is unlikely to sign on the fresh terms.

Real Madrid are interested in getting their hands on him and are prepared to offer him a deal in January when he will be free to discuss a pre-contract with clubs outside England.

Real Madrid in contact with Liverpool star’s agent

The European champions want to wait until they can make a legal approach to the player but they have been in touch with his brother who is also his agent.

According to Spanish radio station Cadena SER, the club have hinted to the agent that they want to remain informed if there is any movement on the contract talks with Liverpool.

Presumably, Real Madrid would make a counteroffer with better financial terms to convince the player to move to the Spanish club.

They could also try and sign Alexander-Arnold in January if they suffer more injuries to their defence in the coming months.

Liverpool are still trying hard to convince the player to sign a new deal but the lure of Real Madrid remains a worry for the Merseyside giants.

Alexander-Arnold’s reluctance to make any commitment is also increasing the creases on the heads of the decision-makers at Anfield.
