England international to sign for Liverpool in shock free transfer

Liverpool are poised to complete the shock signing of an England international on a free transfer. The unexpected deal is set to take many by surprise, as the Reds continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new season with a bold and savvy piece of business.

The Merseyside giants have already turned heads this summer with their ambitious swoop of Florian Wirtz, who is set to join the club on a British record fee of £116m.

They are also set to finalise Milos Kerkez’s arrival from Bournemouth in the ongoing transfer window, and have other plans to strengthen several areas of their squad.

Liverpool are now considering the option of picking up a top-class England centre-back on a free transfer rather than spending a considerable sum this summer.

Liverpool to sign England star on a free transfer

Jarell Quansah’s imminent move to Bayer Leverkusen has led to speculation about Liverpool signing Marc Guehi as his replacement this summer.

Liverpool have already agreed personal terms with his agents and are about to open talks with Crystal Palace for a deal to sign the player this summer.

However, according to Rousing the Kop, Guehi is reluctant to join Liverpool as the third-choice centre-back in the squad.

The Palace captain wants guarantees of being in the starting eleven, which the Reds cannot provide at the moment, as Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are the first-choice pairing.

However, Guehi is a long-term target for the Reds, and they are now keen to sign him on a free transfer next year, when they will be in a position to guarantee him regular game time.

It remains to be seen whether the defender is willing to wait, but more importantly, Palace would be desperate to sell him this summer to earn a fee from his departure.
