Luis Diaz could follow in Philippe Coutinho’s footsteps after he paid Paris a visit en route to the United Kingdom with the Colombian expected in Liverpool imminently.
Supporters are getting a bit antsy having to wait, not just to see Diaz in action, but for the Reds to return against Cardiff City before they face Leicester City in the Premier League.
Yet, Diaz first needs to get his UK work permit and this is where his trip to Paris could be a key detail as it was with Philippe Coutinho’s return to the Premier League as the Brazilian also paid a visit to the iconic French city before moving to Villa Park.
So what do Philippe Coutinho, Paris and Luis Diaz have in common?
Aston Villa took the football community by surprise by signing Coutinho on an initial six-month loan with the option to buy for £33million but due to Brexit regulations, non-EU players must get work permits to play in the Premier League.
Luis Diaz is in Paris…
if you remember back to the start of the window coutinho signed for Villa from Barcelona via Paris in order to sort his visa out…
Assuming Diaz is doing the same – he could be in Liverpool in the next 24 hours 👌🏽

As a Brazil international, the former Liverpool favourite had to make a pit-stop in Paris to get his visa in order before he could progress to the United Kingdom where he was able to make official his move to Villa, reuniting with Steven Gerrard.
Diaz, as a Colombia international, may have been in Paris to formalise his work permit on his way to England.
According to RCN, Diaz went to the airport with his international teammates but while they flew back together, he took a private flight back to Europe on his own.
The report says he was headed to Liverpool but he landed in Paris and given that he just completed a €60million move to Anfield, I doubt he’s been given leave to go take a vacation so it seems likely that he was in Paris due to work permit protocol.
