“I’m just so happy:” £45million Liverpool star explains Reds joy and hopes it “can continue for a while”

Diogo Jota has revealed to Liverpoolfc.com that he is delighted with the way things are going at Anfield and wants it to continue.

The Portuguese has been a key figure in Jurgen Klopp’s side since his £45million move from Wolves.

Many doubted whether or not he was good enough but he’s shown this season, in particular, that he has the ability to lead the line for the Reds even if he’s now in competition with Roberto Firmino, Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Sadio Mane for the no.9 role.

Only Mohamed Salah (20) and Heung Min-Son (17) have more goals than Jota (15) in the Premier League this season. Mane’s not far behind with 13 league strikes of his own.

In all competitions, Jota has struck 21 times in all competitions this season and has been a guaranteed source of goals for Klopp.

While his overall game needs improvement and his decision-making can be quite frustrating at times, there aren’t many players in world football at the moment more deadly in the box.

In fact, each of his goals this season have come from inside the 18-yard area as he has developed into the perfect goal poacher for the Reds.

Jota has revealed to the club’s official website that he is delighted with the way things are panning out for Liverpool this season and it’s not hard to see why.

The Reds are:

  • Carabao Cup champions
  • In the FA Cup final after a 3-2 win over Manchester City in the semifinals.
  • In the Champions League semifinals following a 6-4 aggregate tie triumph over Benfica in the quarterfinals.
  • Just one point behind Man City in the Premier League title race with 7 games remaining.

Liverpool’s quadruple ambitions are alive and well after Klopp’s men beat Man City at Wembley, meaning they are set for another final against Chelsea.

When asked about taking his game to the next level, Jota replied: “I’m just so happy I can be able to help the team in many different moments and I hope this can continue for a while.”

Anfield is set to hose Manchester United and the forward believes every game is now a final for Liverpool as they chase an unprecedented quadruple.

Speaking about facing the Red Devils in the Premier League on Tuesday, Jota told Liverpoolfc.com: “Yeah, another big game. We know what it means to the fans, these kinds of classic games.

“It will be very tough for us and the first of seven finals that we have until the end of the season. So, [to] win is the only chance for us, even though it is not going to be easy to do that, so we need to be at our best.”
