Diogo Jota and Naby Keita to return to outdoor training next week at Kirkby

Naby Keita and Diogo Jota will both return to outdoor training this week after missing 38 and 56 days respectively but as Anfield Central exclusively reported in the last two weeks, the pair has been closing in on a return for a little while now.

On the 17th of January, we were told that Jota was set to start indoor training after his knee brace came off. He is now closing in on the February return that we reported he was set for.

The former Wolves star has been an instant hit at Liverpool and despite only making 15 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, he has 9 goals. His absence in January directly contributed to the Reds’ horrific attacking form.

As we reported earlier this week, Keita has been working indoors over the last week and a half, with a focus being placed on increasing his strength in a bid to improving his ability to overcome niggling muscle injuries.

The results have been encouraging and Liverpool are ready to welcome him back to Kirkby where he will join his teammates. We understand that he will take part in most parts of full training aside from any exercises that require full contact.

Jota, meanwhile, is doing half his work indoors in the gym while he will also take part in sessions on the grass with balls as he ramps up his return from a knee injury.

Given Liverpool’s torrid luck with injuries this season, having Jota and Keita back will be a massive boost.
