Jordan Henderson recently spoke about how Bellingham is surrounded by ‘good people’ amid talk of Liverpool planning an £80million bid for the 18-year-old.
“Anfield chiefs are preparing a club-record £80million bid for” Jude Bellingham next summer, according to the Daily Star and Hendo has been talking up his young international teammate recently.
“Jude is a fantastic player,” Henderson said. “I’m told he has good people around him and a good family, and you can see that is an important part of him. I think he will be a top player going forward. I watch him for Dortmund and the way he performs is outstanding.”
Liverpool were reported to the Premier League for an inappropriate approach to Virgil van Dijk in 2017 and while they eventually got their man, they were forced to wait six months and made to pay £75million.
It turned out to be something of a bargain as the Dutchman is the best defender on the planet by some distance and if they get things right with Bellingham, they could have a world-class midfielder on their hands.
The 18-year-old is already in the England squad and seems to have forged a good understanding with both Jordan Henderson and Declan Rice and as a midfield trio, Gareth Southgate can’t do much better in terms of defensive solidity and balance.
While Patrick Berger says Borussia Dortmund don’t want to sell, if Liverpool are serious and are willing to pay £80m, I’d be surprised if the Germans rejected such a big offer for a teenager.
